How The Learning & Career Hub can assist your students

Through supporting your students in their academic skills development, The Learning & Career Hub can support you in enhancing their experience of learning at UNSW.

The Learning Centre works with colleagues in faculties and schools to help students to develop the following graduate attributes:

  • the skills of effective communication
  • the skills involved in scholarly inquiry
  • the capacity for analytical and critical thinking and for creative problem solving
  • the ability to engage in independent and reflective learning

Once you have identified which aspects of your students' communication skills, approaches to learning or performance in assessment tasks you would like to develop further, contact The Learning & Career Hub to discuss strategies for embedding the teaching of these graduate attributes in your courses.

You can also refer individual students who you feel would benefit from additional academic skills development to The Learning & Career Gyb.

What else can The Learning Centre do?

The Learning Centre can assist with early assessment of students’ academic literacy skills. We are experienced in devising assessment tasks and providing feedback to students and can discuss academic literacy support options with you.

You may have identified a need in the majority of your students. In these instances, Learning Advisers can collaborate with you to develop resources or you can embed academic skills resources in your curriculum. The Learning & Career Hub can also assist you and your students by helping you develop  writing and study guides for your courses.

You may also want to link your courses via Moodle to The Learning Centre's online academic skills resources or embed online resources into your courses as many of our colleagues already do.
